The salary of an IT specialist depends heavily on specialisation, professional experience and education. Those who specialise in sought-after areas such as software development or systems integration can earn above average. Age and accumulated experience also have a noticeable effect, with salaries able to rise significantly over the course of a career. Regional differences are apparent too: in cantons such as Ticino salaries lie above the average, while in cantons such as Zug or Schaffhausen they tend to be lower.
