Factors influencing the salary

The salary of an executive assistant depends largely on professional experience, education and the size of the company. Pay rises noticeably with growing experience and responsibility, particularly where additional duties such as project coordination are taken on. The level of education also plays a role: those holding a degree from a university of applied sciences or a university tend to earn more. Regional differences are apparent as well, with salaries in cantons such as Neuchâtel or Basel-Landschaft coming out above average, while they are lower in cantons such as Schwyz or Schaffhausen. The industry and the size of the employer likewise influence earnings, as larger firms often pay more.

Job profile & responsibilities

The executive assistant supports the management or board in day-to-day operations and takes on organisational and administrative tasks. These include scheduling, preparing meetings and presentations, handling correspondence and coordinating internal and external enquiries. The position frequently acts as the interface between management and other departments or external partners. Alongside organisational skill, discretion, resilience and a high degree of personal responsibility are required. Depending on the size of the company, the range of duties extends from classic secretarial work through to independent projects and strategic input.
