The salary of a fitness trainer in Switzerland depends on several factors: workplace location has a noticeable effect on pay, as salaries differ by canton – earning potential is highest in Solothurn, Aargau and Neuchâtel, while Ticino, Graubünden and Thurgau see lower figures. Work experience and completed training, for example in sport or fitness science, also affect pay. Other influencing factors include the level of employment, the type of employer – ranging from fitness studios to wellness hotels to rehabilitation clinics – and possible specializations, such as personal training or supervising the training of rehabilitation patients.
Fitness trainers work mainly in fitness studios, hotels and wellness centers. They advise clients on fitness goals, suitable training methods, the correct use of exercise equipment, and often on nutrition as well. Their tasks include creating individual training plans and training together with clients. Some fitness trainers also work in rehabilitation clinics, where they accompany and support patients' training during recovery.
