The salary of investment advisors is influenced by several factors. The type of employer plays a significant role: large banks, private banks and specialised asset management firms pay differing salary levels. The canton also has an effect, as above-average salaries are observed particularly in Graubünden and central Switzerland. Professional experience is another decisive factor, since salary rises as the client base and demonstrated advisory expertise grow. A higher qualification, such as a degree from a university of applied sciences or a university, generally leads to a noticeably higher salary. In addition, performance-based bonus payments, the volume of managed client assets and the size of the employer significantly affect the level of overall income.
Investment advisors support private and corporate clients in decisions relating to securities, funds and pension products.
