The salary of a product manager is influenced by several factors. Workplace location plays an important role: salaries in Vaud, St. Gallen, and Bern tend to be above average, while pay in Thurgau, Geneva, and Fribourg is often lower. Qualifications also make a clear difference, with a degree from an applied sciences university or a university typically leading to higher earnings than a standard vocational training. Product managers work across nearly every industry and are responsible for the entire lifecycle of a product, from conception through development to market launch. They develop product strategies, define requirements, and stay in constant contact with customers, suppliers, internal departments, and external partners. In doing so, they coordinate the individual development steps and ensure that timelines and budgets are met. Solid market knowledge is part of their role, as is contributing to the marketing and positioning of the product.
