Earnings as a property manager in Switzerland are strongly influenced by professional experience and further technical training in real estate management. Those who can show a qualification as a certified property manager or a comparable additional credential generally earn considerably more than newcomers. The size and type of portfolio managed also plays a role: those responsible for larger properties or demanding commercial buildings can expect higher pay. Regional differences are noticeable as well, since conurbations such as Zurich tend to offer higher salaries than more rural cantons. Not least, the size of the property management company also influences the salary level.
A property manager is responsible for the ongoing administration and upkeep of real estate, whether residential, commercial or condominium. The duties include organising repairs and maintenance work, looking after tenants and coordinating with tradespeople and service providers. Administrative activities such as managing tenancy agreements or preparing service charge statements are frequently part of the role as well. The occupation calls for organisational skill, strong communication and a sound basic technical understanding of building services.
