The salary of site managers is influenced by several factors. The canton plays an important role, since above-average salaries tend to be paid particularly in Ticino and Zurich, while they are lower in Valais and central Switzerland. Professional experience has a clear effect, since larger and more demanding construction projects are handed over as practical experience grows. A higher qualification, such as a degree from a university of applied sciences, typically leads to a noticeable salary increase. Site managers are usually employed by construction companies, general contractors, or engineering firms and are responsible for the smooth running of the construction sites assigned to them.
