The salary of translators in Switzerland strongly depends on the canton, professional experience and subject-matter qualification. Professionals in the cantons of Vaud, Jura and Zurich tend to earn particularly well, while wages in Geneva, Bern and Thurgau are generally lower. Education also plays an important role: those with a university of applied sciences or university degree typically earn significantly more than people without such qualifications.
